This article did get my attention but it left me unsatisfied: focused attention requires focused search but in a contemplative mood, otherwise pieces of information never "gell" into anything new or useful. Contemplative mode is only possible, however, if most of the "noise" can be ignored. What to succesfully ignore (shouting newscasters or advertisers) is perhaps the most important information management skill one needs to learn, as a counterpoint to the genuine personal attention emphasized by the author...
