Persons in every age group wonder why time seems to move so much faster than it did in their pasts. It seems as if there is never enough time to get everything done and that the situation only gets worse. Many explanations have been offered for this, but few seem to hit the target as well as Phil Yaffe's explanation. We hope you enjoy and find it provocative.

I must agree with the author the article gave me the words I was looking for and made me reflect on my recent experience (to me the article came just in time). I am 32 and have experienced this many times in past.
However in my limited capacity I think the phenomena might not just be related to the old age. I believe it can be observed at any age even when there is nothing to anticipate at the forefront of the consciousness. Probably its more to do with the state of the mind specially when a person
1) Has achieved what was anticipated
2) Visualization of the future event has ceased
3) is very comfortable in the environment or situation
4) Enjoying self with a sense of joy in everything.
Probably the above properties can be summed up in 4 words The equilibrium of mind can this sate be defined as the balance of positive and negative emotions or simply a state of Emotional satisfaction?
When one realizes that time or days are dragging the person has more of the negative emotions at the forefront of the consciousness we can see people nagging just about anything. When the days seems slipping swiftly the positive emotions are at the forefront we can see people tolerating even those inconveniences which are otherwise unforgiving.
May be the force of these positive emotions are so powerful that they annul every other negative emotion such that the mind is reaching at some emotional equilibrium or emotional satisfaction.
Well anyways poetically I think when the days are dragging its like going uphill (Anticipation) and when time flies its like moving down hill (Retrospection and/or a state of emotional satisfaction). Are the people in the old age more emotionally balanced? Certainly they would be anticipating since I believe as long as people are alive they are anticipating one or other thing however probably in old age it does not cause an emotional turbulence of a magnitude to throw the state of mind imbalance and if it does they might experience a dragging time/day(s)?
